Moist it up! The mask your skin needs for Fall
by Carolina Malis
I can already feel it: the dry leaves scent taking over the city, the nights getting colder, the hot morning coffee becoming a must, the breeze getting stronger and.. the skin getting drier. Couldn’t we just take the last one off the list? Is that really too much to ask?
It is crazy how in matter of days my skin’s already screaming for extra moisture. I can see it specially at the end of the day when my makeup gets cakey around my hopefully-not-soon-to-be-wrinkles fine lines or when I look in the mirror throughout the day and I can’t find even the smallest sign of dew. This is why since Fall arrived, besides drinking Chai Lattes every morning, I did some changes to my skincare routine in order to recover a little bit of that glow that comes with summer
I upgraded some of my serums and cleansers, I added heavier creams but on top of that, I increased the number of sheet masks I apply to my face during the week. I’ve always wanted to be that girl who sheetmasks every single day of her life but who am I kidding, I’ve never accomplished that goal. During spring/summer I try to wear one at least 2-3 times a week, but now that the cold weather is here that number grows to 4 minimum.
Sheet masks not only help your skin stay moisturized and healthy but also prevent the amazing ingredients contained in them from evaporating, basically giving yourself a sort of facial every time you decide to apply one. You can find cotton, Bio-Cellulose, Hydro-Gel, Pulp and many other fabrics when talking about the material a sheet mask is made of, but the one I want to introduce you to today is what I call basically a face sweatshirt. As crazy as it sounds, the Neogen Knit Mask has a unique knitted texture instead of using the regular cotton sheet, that allows for maximum essence absorption. Wanna know which of the two fits your necessities the best? Here’s a little intro to both of them.
Cactus Liftmax Knit Mask
This mask is soaked - and when I say soaked I mean it… you can tell how heavy the mask is the second you put it on your face - in 60 milligrams of a concentrated blend of prickly pear cactus and pink algae, which deliver multiple antioxidants and help fortify your skin. If you’re concerned about elasticity loss or early aging signs, then this will be your absolute BFF. Other components like Vitamin C, Beta-Carotene, Camellia and Lotus Flower get together to calm and hydrate skin while lifting up and getting rid of wrinkles and fine lines.
Pink Cactus Liftmax Knit Mask
Now this mask is what I call a skincare miracle. It contains 60 milligrams of essence made out of white truffle, avocado oil and propolis, the perfect combo to maintain skin balance, brighten skin and protect it from the environment. While both work wonders, this is the one that brings the most benefits for my skin. Applying this once a week not only plumps up my skin but helps retain moisture in for a longer time.
Just remember to cleanse your skin and use toner before applying the mask. The package says you should wear it for around 10-20 minutes, but I’ve never, ever, ever used it for less than and hour, because yes, that’s how long it will remain wet (remember...60 milligrams of essence). Give it a try and let us know your thoughts!
