Here's how wine could change your skin this season

By Carolina Malis

Let me start by pointing out the important things in life: it finally fall! If you only knew how passionately I wait for September 22nd to arrive every single day of the year. I'm just not a summer person. I enjoy gloomy days, wearing jackets, the orange foliage and even my skin gets better during this time of the year. But there a catch… this moment we're living right now, when it's kinda cold but kinda hot still is what I like to call that- very-weird-transitional-weather-station, where our skin gets a little confused about the weather and it's hard to tell if we need to jump right into thicker formulas or still opt for light ones.

What's not gonna change though is the fact that we need to exfoliate in order to keep our skin healthy, our pores clean and our complexion smooth. When going into winter many people start experimenting dry patches (ehem, ehem, me) which can end up turning into a nightmare when applying makeup or simply doing your skincare. For that same reason I like to keep a gentle exfoliator by my side all season long.

While I like a good peeling every now and then, I'm a total fan of exfoliating pads. Personally I don't use them everyday but I'm not afraid to use one every other day on weeks when my skin really needs a little extra help. For summer the lemon and green tea one ones were my absolute favorite thing, but with the weather change I tend to like the wine ones more. If you've never heard of or try these before, let me briefly introduce you to them.

Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling pads are in a way the absolute perfect exfoliator to get both chemical and physical exfoliation at the same time. Containing 30 single-use exfoliating pads in the jar this little piece of gold provides your skin with gentle yet super effective exfoliation taking care of dirt, waste, impurities and dead skin cells, all to get you smoother and clearer skin. Dead skin cells are removed from the surface of your skin by using the unique 3 layer pad technology that builds these pads, while lactic acid penetrates deep into your pores to get rid of all the debris trapped inside.

Now, the lead role in this formula is Resveratrol - a powerful and naturally fermented ingredient extracted from red wine - with naturally occurring AHAs that help with the exfoliation process. Resveratrol is a super powerful antioxidant that not only helps prevent the formation of free radicals but also for wrinkles to form on your skin.

But, how do you use these? It's thankfully very simple and fast. After cleansing your skin just slip your fingers into the sleeve of the pad so that the criss-crossed gauze side is facing down. Using gentle and circular motions use the pads all over your - dry - face and neck. Right after rotate the pad so the gauze side is facing up and the soft cotton one is face down. Swipe this side across the face in order to pick up the remaining debris and toxins on the surface of your skin and finally - this is a very important step many people don't know about - you need to rinse off with water!

Let me tell you, after I introduced these pads to my skin they just became a staple on my routine. It's an easy, non-invasive, super gentle and powerful way to exfoliate your skin in order to keep it radiant during the cold weather months, when it's easy for skin to get dull and lose that natural glow we look forward to, but believe me, these pads will help you bring the glow back.

Have you tried these before? What's your absolute favorite from the line?
