Trust us on this one

It’s always Vitamin C season, tbh. You’ve probably already heard about it everywhere so far. Some think of it as their actual skin-savor while others haven't yet succumbed to its powers. If you’re part of the second group, this might change your mind.
So, first things first. What is it that Vitamin C really can do for our skin? To understand it we first need to know about free radicals, atoms or molecules with an unpaired number of electrons that can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules in our body. Some of these free radicals are actually necessary for life and are used by our body’s cells to kill all types of bacteria, but when we host an excessive amount of them it can lead to bad things.
When our bodies get exposed to certain conditions such as pollution, stress, UV rays or even a bad diet and cigarettes, we’re are more prone to generate free radicals, which can damage our DNA, our cells, slow down the collagen production and disrupt the skin’s ability to repair itself, AKA, bad stuff. Now, it’s not all bad news. While free radicals are basically our skin’s Cruella de Vil, there are some ingredients able to fight its reproduction: antioxidants. As long as we keep the balance between antioxidants and free radicals in our skin, everything should be alright. It’s when there’s more free radicals than antioxidants when we’ll have a problem.
Now, what does Vitamin C have to do with this? Vitamin C is a super powerful antioxidant capable of neutralizing free radicals! This will translate into anti-aging benefits, brightening effects, anti-pigmentation, decrease of acne and acne scars, and even sun protection. I know, I know.. You can’t believe you haven't been using vitamin C this whole time, right?
Neogen came out with an amazing Vita C powder a few months ago and it really changed the game, but now there’s a new member to the family and you’ll get obsessed with it at first try. I’m talking about the newly launched Real Vita C Serum, containing 22% ascorbic acid (a stabilized source of vitamin C) and niacinamide (a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory vitamin) on its formula, working as a very powerful reboot to help brighten up, revitalize and hydrate our skin for good. Featuring extracts from 5 citrus fruits (Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit, Lime and Tangerine) this serum not only helps fight free radicals but also grants firming effects to our skin in order for it to look and feel young for longer.
But that’s not it! Also on the formula you’ll find collagen and hyaluronic acid, two uber hydrating ingredients that will make sure your skin stays hydrated throughout the whole process. Not gonna lie, at first try this serum has a different texture in comparison to others I’ve tried and it took me a while to get used to it. I’ve realized I have the best experience with it when I actually use a light toner before the serum as my skin feels more ready to absorb all these incredible ingredients.
Are you at all into Vitamin C? Does this one sound like something you need in your skincare cabinet? Well, good news! The Real Vita C Serum, which was featured on IPSY during April is now available on The Beauty Spy! So get yours before they're all gone - cause let me tell you, they will.
