The sunscreen that fits every skin type
By Carolina Malis
You know when you joke about things but deep down you’re being serious and just hoping for someone to join you on your crazy ideas? Well, that’s me talking about wanting to create a sunscreen cult. I’m the sunscreen lady. I’m allergic to cats so cat lady wasn’t and option for me, so sunscreen it is. Since I learned how fundamental it was to wear it every single day of my life in order to have good skin I never went back. It’s a long term relationship and I know it will last forever.
But there’s still some of my friends who think I’m over reacting when I say you must re-apply at least twice a day and wear it even when it's snowing. But I’m not. Sunscreen is an everyday things, just as brushing your teeth. If you want your skin to look young, healthy and bright sunscreen is your best friend for the ride. I often get asked about best products to fight against wrinkles, fine lines and dark spots. My answer is usually a question: Do you wear sunscreen? Most of the times the answer is NO or “sometimes”, and there's where the problem is. You can use the most expensive, best formulas out there to fight these skin symptoms, but nothing will work if you don’t wear sunscreen everyday. Sunscreen is the best anti-aging you can find, but I understand people can be against it specially because western ones can feel sticky, thick or leave a white cast.
I was one of those, I must admit. Sunscreen wasn't a must in my life until around 2014. Before that I went for the typical ones you find in drugstores, but it wasn’t until I found out about eastern ones that I finally convinced myself it was possible to wear sunscreen and actually enjoy it.
One of the main arguments I get against sunscreen from friends and followers is how it makes their oily skin feel greasy or look too shiny, and believe me, I get it. No one wants that, but the problem isn't sunscreen itself but finding the right one for you. As you can imagine I have many favorites, but there’s a couple I feel good recommending to everybody, no matter their skin type. Neogen Day Light Protection Sunscreen is one of them. First of: it's super lightweight, which is already half of the point you need to get convinced. It’s light, soothing and hydrating thanks to the rose and raspberry extracts contained in the formula, so it’s perfect for those with dry skin looking from an extra boost of hydration, for those with oily skin looking for a refreshing formula that doesn’t feel sticky or those with sensitive skin searching for a sunscreen that won’t irritate their skin.
It’s SPF 50, which YES, is very important to keep your skin protected and it offers intensive protection against harmful UVA/UVB rays. I personally love layering this one under makeup as it doesn’t cake and gives me a little dewy finish that lasts all day long.
The best thing about this sunscreen is how it feels like a moisturizer. Whenever I make my friends try it they can’t believe what I’m making them try is actually sunscreen. Plus, it has a gentle citrus scent that you’ll get obsessed with. It has never irritated my skin, not once, and I’ve truly never heard of someone saying they don’t like it.
Have you tried this sunscreen before? Is it also one of your favorites?
